With the right policy framework, the EU can have an open, inclusive, and competitive e-commerce market. eBay helps carry the voice of SMEs to their policymakers.

About The Event

Building on the success of the January 2025 event – “From Waste to Worth: Boosting the Growth of the European Circular Economy” – this roundtable will focus on the role of second-hand trade in advancing the EU’s sustainability goals.

Set against the backdrop of ongoing negotiations around the EU Customs Reform, as well as of the forthcoming Circular Economy and Digital Fairness Acts, this new event will convene key stakeholders to address the challenges and opportunities in global second-hand trade.

What to expect

The programme will feature:

Opening remarks from Renée Morin, eBay’s Chief Sustainability Officer; an exclusive presentation of new research by Eunomia on the benefits of second-hand trade, commissioned by eBay, and keynote contributions from EU institutions.

Three thematic panels will also provide a platform for expert dialogue on:

– Enabling cross-border trade in second-hand goods through updated customs and product regulations.
– Exploring how digital innovation can help consumers make more informed and sustainable choices.
– Placing reuse, repair, and refurbishment at the heart of the Circular Economy Act.
